Yeln Blackshield is the current Jarl of Clan Blackshield. He holds that his warriors did nothing wrong and is upset with Ulf Flamebeard’s accusations. He is incredibly focused on how his people have done nothing wrong and Ulf Flamebeard is persecuting him to the exclusion of almost anything else.
The rift between Clan Blackshield and Clan Flamebeard dates to The War of the Crowns . Ulf’s daughter, Isird, was a young dwarven women who entered the Flamebeard Defenders against the general wishes of her family... Though far be it for descendants of Lady An to deny her a place. Eventually she was able to convince Ulf to grant her the right to lead a company of Dwarven Orcbusters that took a contract for the High King of Tolpereth in what would turn out to be the start of The War of the Crowns .
A company of Clan Blackshield Orcbusters were finishing a contract with a count in the Duchy of Dunedor to renovate at coastal castle and provide training to its garrison. The High King of Tolpereth's army attempted to take the castle using the Clan Flamebeard Orcbusters as sappers, and unaware of the Blackshield Orcbusters present in the castle. The Blackshield Orcbusters launched a successful countermine and the Lady Isird was lost and presumed dead in the ensuing underground battle.
This set the clans as enemies, but recently the feud has escalated to new heights. Supposedly records have surfaced in another Dunedoran castle where the Blackshield Orcbusters were stationed before their repatriation. These records supposedly show that five Dwarven prisoners were also at that castle, one of whom was female. The question has now become, did Isird fall in the fog of war, or was she captured and executed instead of ransomed? There is no hard evidence either way.
