Dwarven Defenders

Dwarven Defenders are the militia kept by most Dwarven settlements. They are trained in the use of traditional Dwarven weapons and tactics. Their primary responsibility is the defense of their settlement, so they rarely, if ever, leave it as a military formation.

Composition

Manpower

There is usually one Defender for approximately twenty adult Dwarves in a settlement.

Equipment

Defenders are usually armored with the best available in their settlement. In smaller thorps, they may only have medium armors, while in the larger Borgs, some will be wearing Dwarven Plate.

Vehicles

When performing large scale maneuvers in Dwarven territories, Dwarven Defenders use Dwarven Riding Goats as transports. Mounted Defenders ride and fight as hobilar, not as true cavalry.

Structure

Most settlements will have at least a captain and a guard. In larger settlements, one in five Defenders will be a Sergeant of third level or higher. Every forty will have a Lieutenant of fifth level or higher. Every two hundred will have a Captain of seventh level or higher.
