Xeld

The Temple of Xeld is the most important of the five temples of the Sisterhood of the Blood Iris, being the seat of the Eldest Sister, Calfrigia.
The Temple is built on and off the shores of Xeld Island which is the second largest island within Lake Oxylium. It is considerably larger than any of the other four centres of the Sisterhood, and it is the home of the Council of the Irises as well as the location of the main library of the sisterhood, which contains records of their history and studies.
Xeld Island has been extensively cultivated by the sisterhood and contains fabulous gardens. Some of these produce edible crop plants and there is a small amount of livestock farming too. Since the Blood Iris Sisters do not generally eat in the same way as humans (instead obtaining much of their energy by magical and photosynthetic methods) they do not need extensive farms, but they certainly can consume traditional foodstuffs and supplement their diet this way on occasion.
Xeld is the best known of the centres of healing which the sisters operate as a kind of charity for mortals on Magicians' End. These healing services (and perhaps the less public intimate ones) help the The Sisterhood of the Blood Iris to maintain good relations with its human neighbours.
