The Ice Vault
The Ice Vault is a building on New Callisto which dates to the time when the first human settlers arrived on the moon. It contains carefully sealed samples of genetic material from the flora and fauna of Earth together with a comprehensive database and gene splicing machinery.
Purpose / Function
The Ice Vault was used to "enhance" the local eco-system of New Callisto in the early years of human settlement. It was resealed in a distant age, its primary function considered to be complete, but since the Awakened World of Earth rejoined the Galactic Compact the vault has been of great interest to scientists who would like to be able to study its contents since they provide a rare insight into life on Earth before the arrival of the Gene Sea.
