The Galactic Compact

The Galactic Compact is associated with the realm known as the World of the Long Sleep and is the name given to the largest known affiliation of interstellar species within it, with a loose collection of trading arangements and treaties governing settlement and the transfer of technology between them. It promotes peace but it has no active enforcement arm. The Compact is an incredibly ancient institution, flexible, fluid and some might argue almost meaningless and yet it does act as a valuable forum for the settling of disputes. The Compact existed before the Great Forgetting and was still there after the Awakening of History although it would take the Earth a long time to contact it again.
