Gantranne
Beginning as a small staging port for the Allport League with origins dating back to the 17th century, the city of Gantranne was finally granted a full charter from Allport in 2002 AF when Sarika Basu was the leader of the League.
It's importance increased as trade between the cities of eastern Trass, Allport and Equatoria developed more fully during the years of the Trade Wars.
The painting "Gantranne Rain" shown above is by Kiara Uthetti from a 1936 sketch she made when she was returning to Equatoria after a two year visit to Trass and actually predates the granting of city status, but illustrates that the docks were already well developed at that time.
Much later, warfare between Gantranne and Entessaminia brought the age of the Long Northern Peace to a close in 2617 AF at the start of the Role Disputes.
Industry & Trade
Gantranne is often thought of primarily as a warehousing and distribution centre, allowing goods to be shuttled to and fro from Trass by smaller ships whilst greater ocean going vessels make return journeys to Allport or Equatoria. However, there is a significant amount of local commerce generated on Trasslow which adds to the flow of trade. This consists mainly of agricultural produce of various kinds.
