The Flooded Forest

Another mysterious section of the forest, filled to the brim with water. Dominated by gigantic mangrove-like trees, the Flood Forest is one of many biomes present within the Dark Forest. Not much is known of the forest, other than that it serves as the primary habitat for all aquatic creatures spawned from the Salamander's stories.   This place also happens to be the only way for aquatic life to enter the Forest, short of leaving the ocean on their world.

Fauna & Flora

The Flooded Forest's trees are a bit different from the rest of the Dark Forest, and seem to be a form of mangrove. Their roots network together under the water to allow them to form caves and nets, preventing easy traversal at the upper levels. However, as the water goes deeper, the roots give way to massive caverns that house some of the largest monsters the Dark Forest has ever seen. This includes monsters like the legendary Jormungandr from Norse myth. If one has to go in the water for any reason, it's advised to stay close to a mangrove and never go into these caverns. Jormungandr is but one of the monsters that lurks in the Flooded Forest's depths.
