Eclipsed settlements

"Eclipsed settlements" is a phrase used to describe the settlements that were visited by "Recruiters" of the Black Sun, leaving them as empty ghost towns. The cult members are only interested in gaining new members and food, not caring for anything else (with some exceptions depending on the High priest leading them).   Any town can experience an eclipse as there is no warning of where the members of the cult will appear next. Entering one of those settlements is always surreal as everything looks pristine as if it was still used, and yet, there are no humans there anymore. Not even their corpses or blood no matter how brutal were the cultists who visited it. It's as if the moment the fog created by their Thurible of Fog blew away, almost all of the traces of their presence disappeared with it.   The only proof that the "eclipse" was the work of the Cult of The Black Sun and not some clever beast are the symbols of The Black Sun, carved into buildings, floors, and ground, or small statuettes.

Assets

Besides weapons, food, and some other stuff that could be useful when traveling, almost everything is left behind, no matter how important it was to its previous owners. They just leave all they had, never to come back again.   That is, of course, unless an eclipsed town got pillaged by bandits (as they are pretty much big, open treasure chests) or burned down, as some "recruiters" like to do.

Reclaiming them

Eclipsed settlements are free to be reclaimed by anyone and anything. The cult rarely ever visits the same place twice unless they really have no luck gaining new followers lately.
