Albio's day

15 years ago, the first day everyone in The Pit awakened, Father Albio received a vision from The Tree. Following its instructions, he led over 100 people to what would become the Vault Village, a giant vault filled with the food made by the previous inhabitants of The Pit, which they repurposed as their new home. 3 years later, Father Albio passed away. To memorize him, his leadership of the tribe and to thank him for finding one of the only safe places on The Surface layers, every year, his tribe makes a great feast where all non-hostile guests are welcomed.

Execution

The preparations start mostly in the morning, although there are some that decide to start a few days before (mostly those who craft something). The main guard post is moved from the entrance to the area between the canteen and the living quarters and more tables are placed in both the canteen and the trading area so that about 200 people can eat in one place. Each of the families brings something with themselves, mostly various dishes, but in the case of crafters and tailors, they often bring plates, tablecloths, and various decorations.
Once the feast starts around noon, the whole day is spent eating, drinking, singing, and playing.

Food balance

After 15 years, there's not much of the canned and preserved food left from the vault. Most of the food the village operates on now comes from hunting the Beasts from Above or farming the crops of which the seeds were stored in the vault. And yet, still, there's always a few of the premade dishes served on each celebration of Albio's life. This is yet another way the tribe keeps his memory stay strong within both the younger generations and the outsiders.
