Sickle, long-handled

A strange cross between a normal sickle and a full-size scythe, the long-handled sickle is a single-handed agricultural tool. Its curved blade can be designed in a wide range of ways but it will usually look like the blade of a sickle.    Just like its smaller and larger cousins, the sickle and the scythe, the long-handled sickle, it can be used for harvesting crops or forage. However, it was developed in particular to deal with the harvesting of firelash mushrooms which are too tough to be harvested by hand but also have a tendency to grow halfway up pine trees, making their harvest more complex.

Significance

The long-handled sickle became a symbol of the Citialian rebellion around 1600's. As is often the case, the Blanchian forces occupying the Citilian lands soon forbid people from bearing arms unless they were part of the Blanchian forces. This led rebels to make do with whatever they had on hand to fight, including various pieces of farming equipment. However, a Orc farmer by the Zaghig Hagob living near Pinerest stood up to a group of Blanchian soldiers who had been sent to take his and his family's lands. He managed to fight off the soldiers long enough to allow his family to flee, while armed only with a long-handled sickle. He then managed to escape himself. His story soon was being re-told across the the Pinelands and along the Serene Sea Coast. Zaghig was named by the local rebels a Hero of the Pines and they started to use the long-handled sickle as a rallying symbol. This practice soon spread to other parts of the region.
