The War of Burning Skies is the story of humanity's downfall.
Humanity was at a height it would not reach in milennia to come, spread across multiple worlds with Gateways to connect them, arcane wonders and wealth beyond counting.

However humanity was betrayed. A Mysterious figure now only known as 'the wanderer' gave humanity the technology to build complex devices called 'Aether Spihons'.
These devices allowed for humanity to vastly expand their arcane infrastructure, allowing a great quality of life increase for all its citizens. However, only a few years later, the human homeworld of Kar-Kut was visited by a Mechanoid envoy demanding that humanity cease operations of the Aether siphons immediately.
The human Leadership, ingratiated to the wanderer and convinced that they could make the envoy see reason, refused.
This turned out to be a grave mistake, as the mechanoids mobilzed their troops and spent the next several years siegeing and destroying multiple human worlds, leaving nothing but ruins behind.
Humanity was able to hold out for 9 long years of defeat after defeat, until suddenly all the aether siphons across all remaining human cities detonated simultaniously, causing the death of hundreds of thousands.
The wanderer had betrayed humanity and his deceitful nature had finally revealed itself.
Only a few short hours later, the forces of The Divine Machine arrived on Kar-Kut and merely had to watch the world detonate.
Some of the survivors of this war managed to flee to nearby worlds, such as Haven and Lucelain.
