Money is not involved inside of the prison system, a man's sweat holding the greatest value.
You have three ways of paying back what you steal, sweat, blood and tears, an Ufele's money is secondary.
Sweat payment is a simple concept where one offers up work. They aid the Grounds Keepers and the Municipalities. The rule rarely extends to merchants and noble houses unless a legal agreement has been made. This work can be arduous and even dangerous but as a general rule, it's supposed to only be arduous, protection provided for by the commander on contract holder.
Blood Payment, this is the most difficult method as it is not based on literal blood, but servitude. You are to give yourself, this can be a contract of endured servitude, it can be simple such as an oath based commission. Which is much like any commission, only if the oath is broken it is not only broken but the breaker may end up reserving their prison sentence. It can also be so deep that it may take up a person's entire life, becoming a soldier for life, a slave or even a birthing vessel, a rare one to take and offers are even rarer. As the positive is giving up the years of the child to the owner, essentially birthing them into slavery.
The Tears, this is the prison sentence, every prisoner must do time, no matter how rich to get their payment of tears.
