Hill Dwarves

Hill dwarves are commonly found in lowland regions, preferring the grass and scrub of rolling hills to the harsh environments of the mountains.
They are much more often seen outside of the dwarf holds, and even have made relatively large communities in non-dwarven settlements. Most Dwarves encountered by other races will be of hill dwarf stock.
The hill dwarves are typically darker skinned and shorter than their mountain-dwelling cousins, but are just as hardy.
Player character Hill Dwarves have the features detailed opposite in addition to the ones they get from being Dwarves.

Hill Dwarves around the Azure Sea

Hill Dwarves can be found in all the lands of The Azure Sea, particularly in the western regions.
Whilst still serving King Brakhur Dimmaster who rules under the mountains, they honour their own clans to an even greater degree, which sometimes causes some friction with the mountain dwarves.
The largest of the hill dwarf clans are the Kragflayers and the Emberpike Clan. They control most of the dwarven trade, as hill dwarves make up the majority of dwarven merchants that travel out into the world to sell the wares and goods of the mountains.
Much of these goods travels from Koldor's Hold to the human settlement of Elry, from where it is loaded onto barges and sailed down the Kingfisher River to Saltmarsh. From there it can be sailed to the lands around The Azure Sea.
