"Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed colleagues, and honored guests, I am
Tyro Alekszie Renaske, Site Overseer of Xenoarchaeology at the University of Saturn. Today, I present to you a snapshot of our field's most pressing challenge and opportunity: the xenoarchaeology of Byleth, a planet beset by conflict and intrigue. As we gather here, the Wolf System's fragile peace teeters on the brink of collapse, threatening the very sites that hold the secrets of the Xenohexapodus Sapiens Supremus. Amidst this turmoil, our team has persevered, unearthing revelations about the X'Cess's enigmatic civilization. From the cryptic transmat networks to the imposing ziggurats of the Elder Synods, Byleth's ruins whisper tales of a species that defied the boundaries of dimension and reality. This lecture will delve into the latest discoveries, exploring how xenoarchaeology can illuminate the X'Cess's symbiotic relationship with Redspace Adversarial Intelligences and inform our understanding of this pivotal, yet perilous, region."

A Dimensionally Aware Species
The X'Cess, a technologically advanced hexapod species, possessed a profound understanding of higher dimensions. Their early interactions with
Redspace Adversarial Intelligences granted them insight into extradimensional physics. This knowledge enabled the development of teleportation technology and bulk matter transmission even before the invention of manned spacecraft. The name is a colloquialism that stuck;
Hellions decided that 'Xenohexapodus Sapiens Supreme' was too much of a mouthful, and XSS eventually slurred down to X'Cess.
Physiology and Symbiosis
X'Cess individuals exhibited a unique physiology, characterized by reflective bioplastic scales, retractable tentacle-like manipulators, and bioluminescent markings. Their flat, wide, ribbon-like veins facilitated symbiotic relationships with macroparasites, enhancing immunity and cognitive abilities. Notably, they viewed harboring RAIs in their nervous system as a blessing, akin to their macroparasitic relationships.
Societal Structure and Spirituality
The X'Cess operated under a theocratic, hierarchical structure, guided by spiritual leaders xenoarchaeologists have coined as Elder Synods. Their advanced technology wass deeply intertwined with spiritual practices. Teleportation, via
Redspace, served as their primary long-distance travel method. Bulk matter transmission enabled efficient resource allocation. Their reverence for ancient, higher-dimensional deities is believed to have been central to their mythology.
Dimensional Awareness and RAI Symbiosis
The X'Cess comprehended higher dimensions as integral to existence. RAIs provided strategic insights, foresight, and dimensional awareness, yet also posed risks to individual free will. To maintain balance, X'Cess developed mental disciplines, advanced
Memetics and wove RAI influence into spiritual practices. Initiation rites involve intentional RAI infestation, with Elders mentoring younger X'Cess in RAI management.
Cultural Practices and Technology
Community gatherings focused on dimensional harmony, while art and architecture of the ruins reflect higher dimensional geometry. Advanced teleportation networks (called 'Hellgates' by
Hellions) and bulk matter transmission hubs facilitated travel and resource allocation. Energy shields and dimensional stabilizers ensured safety. Neurointerface technology enabled RAI communication.
Challenges and Conflicts
Despite their advanced understanding, the X'Cess faced challenges balancing RAI influence with individual free will, maintaining dimensional stability, and addressing external threats from other spacefaring civiilzations. Internal power struggles within Elder Synods also posed risks. Xenorchaeologists haven't figured out which of these ended the X'Cess civilization.
