Redspace is a dimension shrouded in mystery and terror, characterized by a void of electromagnetic radiation and inhabited by malevolent entities known as Redspace Adversarial Intelligences (RAIs). These entities feed on mental energies, tormenting and hunting sentient beings. Travel through Redspace is extremely hazardous, with time moving unpredictably—forward, backward, or halting altogether.

Risk-Reward

The risks of Redspace travel are exacerbated by the unpredictable nature of RAIs. Some are drawn to the mental energies of sentient beings, while others seem to delight in tormenting and manipulating travelers. Ships venturing into Redspace must be specially equipped with psychological shielding to protect crews from RAIs' influence. That being said, entering Redspace is much easier than entering Whitespace, with some pilots describing it as being 'hungry' for the ship.

Despite the perils, some individuals and organizations attempt to utilize Redspace for its potential benefits: faster travel times and access to uncharted regions. However, the Pan-Solar Consortium strictly prohibits Redspace travel, and those caught facing severe penalties, including imprisonment and asset forfeiture. The allure of Redspace remains strong, but its dangers ensure it remains a shadowy, illicit realm.
