HUMNX

“They would sooner kill what they hate than craft what they love. That is the true difference between our houses. We build. They butcher.”
— Rago Carpellon d’Janus des Drachen, Head of Haus des Drachen

A False Genesis: The Origins of HUMNX

Humanity’s Unified Movement for Natural Xenogenesis (HUMNX) began in Year 300 as a eugenicist movement under the leadership of Alfred Pearson, a reactionary ideologue who sought to ‘repair’ the human genome after the damage done by Gobivirus Mutagenicus. What began as a policy proposal for enforced sterilization and breeding Licenses for mutants—primarily victims of the Gobi Horror—quickly spiraled into something darker. Pearson’s ideology was met with swift opposition, most notably by Clan Tzuriel, a Great House composed in large part by Martian mutants who served as the foundation for pan-solar food security. His inability to gain political traction led him to pivot into conspiracism. He fixated on Clan Tzuriel as the supposed masterminds of a mutant plot to usurp human destiny, painting them as traitors to baseline humanity. This rhetoric eventually sparked bloodshed: on the eve of his death, HUMNX operatives bombed a bread line in Olympus Mons, killing a dozen mutants in the first act of what would become a campaign of terror.

The Path of Terror: Attacks, Bioweapons, and Counterstrikes

Following Pearson’s death, HUMNX abandoned even the veneer of politics and embraced stochastic terrorism, guerilla tactics, and biological warfare. While they employ the standard arsenal of low-intensity insurgents—cheap laser rifles, improvised explosives using S-C60, and drone-based attacks—they are most feared for their custom bioweapons. These viruses are engineered to selectively target mutant gene sequences while being generationally limited to prevent the kind of adaptive spread seen during the original Gobi Horror pandemic. This cold precision has made them a pariah even among Terrorist groups. Most major planets and stations maintain kill-on-sight policies, and even the Wolfguard—who are known for brainwashing the worst criminals into loyal shock troops—refuse to recruit HUMNX agents, fearing they may be literal biological time bombs.

Enemies in High Places: Opponents and Enforcers

Opposition to HUMNX is fierce and well-established. Clan Tzuriel remains their most frequent and symbolic enemy, having humiliated Pearson politically and survived decades of attacks. Tzuriel’s renown for nonviolence and practical idealism has only sharpened public disgust for HUMNX’s bloodthirsty extremism. Unexpectedly, the Warrior nobles of Haus des Drachen have become key players in fighting HUMNX. Though the Haus flirts with aristocratic eugenicism via the Nouveau Palatine movement, their ideology focuses on cultivating excellence, not purging the unworthy. The two Houses’ cooperation—especially in hostage rescues and counterterror raids—has made HUMNX’s operations increasingly desperate. Spectra Genetics, a cybernetic and biotech firm deeply intertwined with transhumanist modification culture, is another frequent enemy, as HUMNX views their so-called “Genefreaks” as further abominations.

Web of Shadows: Ideological Conflicts and Fragile Alliances

Despite being universally reviled, HUMNX finds occasional and temporary allies. Elements of Apex Genetics and Pheonix Bioengineering have been accused of offering financial or material support—Phoenix for reasons unknown, and Apex likely due to rogue elements within the Perfected Path religion. HUMNX adopts Perfected Path scripture to justify their mission, yet the official church has denounced them repeatedly. In return, HUMNX has launched attacks against their supposed ideological kin, branding them “apostates.” Even among radicals, HUMNX is toxic: their hatred of cybernetic alteration has led to bloody conflict with the Vanguard of 8a-51115k, and their uncomfortable cooperation with the Coalition of Rebels is strained by the latter’s acceptance of mutant members. While the Hellfire Cabal has historically exploited HUMNX for shared chaos, genuine cooperation is rare. HUMNX is a creature of destruction, too consumed by its own hatred to build lasting ties—even with those who might benefit from their violence.
