Redstone

There are frequently linguistic inferences we can make about what certain names are derived from. In the case of redstone, however, it's literally "laguraw", or "laga uraw", which means "red stone." Hard to imagine how powerful it is with such a basic name.
— Roald Malenfant
In an area where the majority of the rock is a blue or green or gray tinge, with the occasional brown thrown in for color, purely red rock is unusual. The vibrant red color of this particular kind of stone would be striking anywhere.   It's found just below the surface in several areas, and was not properly researched until after the Weinadi began moving some of their settlements underground. As such, the Basadu are those with the foremost amount of knowledge about this rock.   Of course, what they know is entirely different from what the other two primary species know, and for good reason.

Living Stone

Redstone has different properties for the weinadi than for anyone else on Thaiterra. In their hands, with the right mental preparations, it becomes as malleable as clay. This makes it a fantastic building block for their constructions, especially for people like the Dheizei who are continually in need of crafting more shelters. Redstone Manipulation is a broadly practiced art.   There's a great deal of mythology around the redstone, although stories specifically naming the material are rare up until the Asazi split as a people and the Basadu moved underground. Most of these stories regard redstone as something from the Low Gods, a tool of theirs to interact with the weinadi and help them shape their world.   Redstone does not interact well with other rock formations. It can be stabilized, to a degree, with the manipulator applying heat and mental pressure to ensure that it retains its shape. Due to the psychic component, it's exceedingly rare to perform this for an object much larger than a cubic meter.

Distribution

Trade & Market

It's difficult to trade since it tends to sink below the surface if improperly transported, thus rendering it a loss. When stabilized, the art it produces can be quite valuable. The malleability makes it something more used for barter than for monetary trade.
