Moore

Moore is the oldest settlement on Tersten, located in Mora County. It is the capital of the Haywardshire Hills region, and the largest city in the Mora region. It is a large city settled on the banks of the Genesis Lake. The city was founded in 11BC by a colonial expedition headed by Samuel Moore, who is considered one of the founding figures of Tersten. The planet is still infrequently referred to as Moore's World by stubborn locals because of this. During the years of the Pinascimate Penal Authority, Moore was the capital of an independent Moore Republic, where sympathetic settlers aided in helping convicts escape to the free territory of Nevada County. Under the People's Republic of Lordania, Moore became a large and prosperous city, and a major transport hub between Tersten City and Lawless. As a part of the modern Republic of Tersten, Moore is one of the planet's largest and most popular cities.
Moore lies in the Haywardshire Hills, a region of flowing hills from the North Tersten Ocean down to the Samaritan Sea. The city was built on the banks of the Genesis Lake, which is a natural reservoir for the Calopogo River. The Ings of Moore are a series of flood meadows that run alongside the city, which occasionally suffers bouts of flooding as rain flows down the Haywardshire Hills and overflows the river. The city's outskirts are largely wooded, including the Haxby Forest and Foss Forest, which give the city it's iconic scenic views.
As the oldest city on Moore, and settled largely by Martians, the city retains much of its late 22nd Century Ecorevivalist architecture, now being one of the few places in the galaxy where this style can still be found. Inspired by Martian design, it has avoided the use of personal vehicles and is connected by skybridges and pedestrian walkways. Until the completion of large mass-transport infrastructure, the city was unable to expand and instead developed vertically, as such, it contains the most skyscrapers on Tersten.
