Desperation Pass
The Desperation Pass is a road connecting the Priceless Dam and the Voolani Wetlands. While in the modern day it is a perfectly normal highway running through the valley and down towards the city of Taqir, it is historically known as the Deadliest Road on Tersten.
Prior to the construction of the Dam, the Takiwerk River flowed through this area far faster and stronger, and anyone attempting to travel down the river either had to face devastating rapids, or scale along near-vertical cliffs, along towering drops, and through unexplored wilds. In addition, travel down the Takiwerk beyond the city of Priceless was considered illegal under the Penal Authority, and many hunting parties lurked along the river searching for escaped convicts.
For this reason, it was known as Desperation Pass, as only the most desperate tried to flee from the Penal Authority via this route. However, people still did, and the nations of Golichistan and Arimidas Republic are founded by the descendents of those that made it through.
During the reign of the Tersten State, in 40 PC, the Priceless Dam was constructed, leading to the draining of the lands around the Pass, and the submerging of villages in the dam's new reservoir, Eleven Bend Reservoir. With the dam completed, a road was able to be built between both sides, finally connecting Priceless and Taqir.
However, shortly after the construction of the road by the Tersten State, it was bombed by the Tersten Resistance, preventing it from being used during the Great Revolution. It was finally fixed again shortly after the conflict by the new Republic of Tersten.
