High King
Uniter of the Clans
Requirements
Must already be an Earl of one of the Holds in Skìrah and have a traceable bloodline back to one of the 3 original Frosian Korg Houses. While being a Korg isn't a requirement, no High King has ever not been a Korg.
Appointment
The High King is raised to their new rank during a special ceremony at the Stone of Dathran in the city of Talvel's Point. The Stone is a small inscribed monument which resembles a rectangular boulder. Traditionally, this Korg coronation stone is where an Earl of Skìrah is truly legitimised as the High King, when they are crowned atop the Stone.
Duties
While only a ceremonial rank in terms of all Earls being equal, the High King's duties were to keep the Clans and then Houses of the Korgs together and oversee deals or grudges being settled without the need of any Clan or Civil-Wars.
When Skìrah joined the Great Western Empire in 1652EM, the High King became Skìrah's Imperial Representative of the Kingdom as well as in the Court of the Emperor.
Benefits
Equal taxes from each Earl go towards the High King and his respective House so that they can effectively keep the peace. As a ceremonial title it does not hold any political benefits unless well respected, but it does gain influence over the common peasantry.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The High King will often be sporting extravagant or expensive clothing and jewellery to suit his new title. Before the Emperor of the Great Western Empire was gifted it, the High King would also sport the Iron King of Korgs.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The only way to relieve an Earl of the title is to kill him.

Source of Authority
The High King is officially chosen by the other Earls and so holds legitimacy in that regard. While in the Great Western Empire, the High King also benefited from support of his Imperial Majesty himself.
Length of Term
The reign of a High King is for life.
