Jester and Fools Guild

Overview

The Jester and Fools Guild can be considered a form of Bard supply guild but in background and alignment is considered a form of Thieves Guild. It is treated by Rogues as an aligned Guild that can be used with the same confidence as a Thieves Guild establishment. The Joker Card in the standard Thieves Card Deck is used to gain entry into a Bard Guild facility by a Rogue, and Bards use the same card to gain entry into a Thieves Guild establishment.

Class Usage

The Bard class uses the Jester and Fools Guild as the main guild which allows them to access the training and methods of the Thief when they are undertaking their Thief Training.

The Rogue in choosing to become a Thief-Acrobat  (as Per AD&D 1st Version Unearthed Arcana Page 23) start to receive the acrobatic feats and skill set training from the Jester and Fools Guild.

Structure

The guild follows the Rogues Guild system - except that the highest position is hed by the Joker Card holders (Color and Black and White) when dealing with Rogues.   Internally the Guild when dealing with Bards actually uses the Tarot Card Deck - using the extra Picture card of the Knight to represent the first level (Probationary) Bard who has started his true Bard training after completing the Fighter and Thief parts of his training. Each card of the Major Arcana represents one of the levels of the Bard from Bard Level 2 (non-probationary Lyrist) to Bard Level 23.
