Brazen Ring

The Brazen Ring is a sanctioned guild of guides, scouts, old mercenaries, and former adventurers established in Crodeux to oversee the licensing, regulation, and deployment of martial companies, scouts, and adventuring parties across Othvarand. Once a loose association of retired delvers and mercenaries, the Ring was granted formal authority by Archduke Vaurant in 1043 AR to bring order to the chaotic rise of unregistered treasure-hunters and self-proclaimed heroes.

Operating out of a fortified hall near Coppergate, the Brazen Ring issues adventuring licenses, maintains records of expeditions, and serves as a neutral broker for contracts, bounties, and dungeon claims. It enforces the archduke’s laws concerning taxation, land rights, and Church observance—ensuring that adventurers pay their dues, both to lords and Law.

While the Ring has earned the ire of some noble houses and independent mercenary bands, it is widely seen as a pragmatic solution to a growing problem. Its emblem—a ring of hammered brass split into three arcs—symbolizes the tripartite pact between the Archduke, the Church, and the people who risk their lives in the wild places.
