Session 11: Bearowls
General Summary
Waking around 11:30 AM in the small farming village, the party heard that a few Hexalian Order members had ridden through, with the villagers misdirecting them, claiming they hadn't seen the party. The party continued on the Nythan Transsect, heading north to Freygarde Crossroads. After an hour's journey, they heard screeching from the forest they were passing through. Ogvai scouted ahead, finding two owlbears heading through the forest towards the road. The party agreed to wait it out, but when Doug and Rome tried to calm the horse, they ended up spooking it, causing the horse to charge forward a bit before the driver could stop it. The owlbears were no match for the party and their guards, though. Rome skinned both creatures, taking the pelts. The party and their guards parted ways in the forest, with the adventurers taking meat from the owlbears back to the farming village before returning to Eleth Lilanor.
A mile outside town, the party stopped to wash up in a small forest stream. As they were dressing, a middle-aged halfling couple rode by. Spotting the party, including the naked Tamugar as he left the water, they greeted the party, choosing to travel the remaining distance to Freygarde Crossroads together. The party chatted a bit about their pasts, with Rome asking the halflings if they knew anything about the Delirium Travelling Troupe, learning that they'd last passed through the Crossroads about a year ago.
Parting ways outside the town, the party first stopped at the Freygarde Forks, the town's only inn, large enough to hold a thousand occupants. Ogvai checked out the stables, finding horses belonging to four Hexalian Order members. Rome secured rooms for the party, and was told about the town's statue commemorating the first battle that four of the Seven Eternals fought, before they were fully assembled as a group.
Heading further into town, the party stopped at a post office, finding that no Wanted posters had yet been put up. Doug mailed some money back to his parents in Tabarzin while Rome left a note for her family or anyone in the Delirium Travelling Troupe and posted an ad on the bulletin board in the hope they'd come through again and find her.
After taking in the sight of the statue, the party headed to a furrier and leatherworker, where Rome commissioned a garment made from the owlbear pelts and made arrangements for it to be sent to Kina Veslynd back in Eleth Lilanor. They then sold some armor and weapons, with Rome purchasing studded leather armor. Rome commissioned some metal armor for Frederick, her snake, also to be sent back to Kina.
Stepping out into the square again, the party saw Zadok the Priest talking about the significance of the statue to a a small group of onlookers, and they also spotted four other Hexalian Order members guarding the north and south exits to the square.
