Dalgablun Marches

On the east side of Myas'tara, outside J'Zanassi Forest, the land becomes more harsh. Trees are fewer, water is more scarce, and the land grows ever rockier as travelers journey further east. Warbands of goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears patrol the land, preying on the beasts that make their homes in the land and on unwary travelers hoping to avoid the road through the J'Zanassi Forest. A range of foothills borders the Rashtara Channel to the east, dropping into the water in sheer cliffs. Towards the southeast, the Rashtara Span , a dangerous rock bridge crosses the channel at a height of 1,300 feet, providing a connection to Rasharan.   A day's journey north of the bridge, the goblinoids made their home atop what the humanoids call the Goblin Hills, three large hills around Lake Glazburz. The Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Bugbears each have a village atop a hill, flattening the tops to get a large, flat, area. Each consists of a palisade and huts above a system of tunnels under the hill. The lake provides them with water, and the plains around the lake between the hills is large enough for the full might of the three combined armies to muster before heading to war. The dextrous goblins live atop the southern hill in Fort Kralberg. The tough and durable bugbears inhabit the northwest hill, calling their village Blagbash. The cunning, intelligent hobgoblins are to the northeast, in Sharnat. The leaders of each village quarrel frequently and fights are known to break out regularly around the lake, but on the occasions when they perceive an outside threat, they can band together and form a formidable army. Prior to the years of The Assault, the goblinoids roamed the northern marches, skirmishing with the orcs of the Mosharg Steppes. Heading south to their current settlement, it took some time for them to discover, skirmish with, and organize against the humans.   The earliest humans once lived in a town, Stillwater, to the northeast of the forest, on the shores of a wide lake, The Stillmere. The Rushdoc River flows out of the Stillmere, heading south and eventually ending up in the Sea of Shards. A town of wood and stone, chopped from pockets of trees and quarried from the foothills, the early humans were largely farmers, with a deep respect for the dead. A giant tomb lies deep under the lake, hewn from the stone. Although supported by the forays of a few wizards into magical experimentation, the humans couldn't mount much of a defence when occasional skirmishes with the goblinoids became a full-on organized assault. The humans fled south, ending up in the arms of the lizardfolk armies. The Dalgablun Mob razed the city but didn't find the entrance to the tomb, which the wizards had sealed shortly before dying. The Stillwater Ruins remain on the shores of the lake.   The border between the marches and the Nythenor Plains are guarded by a series of forts, maintained and populated by the Plainskeepers. The Dawn Fort is to the east, near the Rashtara Span, Fort Zenith is central, and the Dusk Fort is to the west, near the J'Zanassi Forest.
