Gàbba Gàol

Lord Gàbba Gàol

An ancient efreeti of the Rhegev Desert, Gàbba Gàol is a self obsessed and self possessed individual with an ego massive enough to believe he deserves the worship his terrified adherents lavish upon him.
Gàbba Gàol resides in his palace deep within the Rhegev Desert, appearing when and where he will throughout the arid landscape. He has many Human and Elf slaves to satisy his perverse whims. He is cruel and can be sadistic, but can also be generous when it suits him, or furthers one of his numerous desires.   But of all of his desires, that which he most craves is that which he can never have, and that is the love of Sheherizade the Temptress. She of the silks and mysteries, Sheherizade will only ever truly love al-Adin the Sailor, and nothing Gàbba Gàol has done, or could ever do, will change that fact. And so, at times over the centuries he has seen fit to try and force the issue, but each scheme failed so spectacularly that Gàbba gave up, each time, after only a few hundred years. For, as Sheherizade herself has perpetually purred, al-Adin always returns to her arms after a time.   Gàbba Gàol hates al-Adin the sailor with a fierce and brutal fire in the very pit of his stomach, and it is a thing he is unaccustomed to. Generally the objects of his fury and hatred are simply removed with prejudice, but he is not powerful enough to slay the mighty sailor, al-Adin, and he knows it. This fact sours his stomach so badly that he often returns to the Elemental Plane of Fire for a much needed spa day, and a relaxing vacation, slaughtering slamanders and fire elementals in the foothills of his childhood volcano range.

Divine Domains

Flames, fire, and destruction.

Artifacts

There are many steel artifacts that have been created by artisans worshipping the efreeti over the years, and most of them have survived in the arid landscape of the Rhegev Desert ever since. Gàbba collects them, gaining in power with every new addition to his display.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

An efreeti of the Old Guard, Gàbba Gàol has consolidated his hold over a central portion of the Rhegev Desert, being worshipped as a God by The One True Church, and feared by all others in the area. This suits Gàbba perfectly fine, as he likes people fearing him almost as much as he enjoys people worshipping him. He has spent the last several millenia fomenting chaos and discord across Taisha and, to a lesser extent, The City of the Lights. He has discovered, lately, that he craves the sheer power granted to him by his worshippers, however, and strives to keep them happy and worshipful.

Sexuality

Gàbba takes his lovers by force, the only exception to this being Sheherizade the Temptress, whom he desires the love and adoration of, heart and soul.

Failures & Embarrassments

Gàbba Gàol's consistently rebuffed romantic advances toward Sheherizade are a source of immense embarassment to him, and are indeed what sparked the hatred he feels for al-Adin the Sailor.

Mental Trauma

The sheer, unadulterated hatred he feels for al-Adin has caused mistakes and foibles on Gàbba Gàol's part, and the fact that the storied sailor has no fear of the ancient efreeti whatsoever, truly drives Gàbba insane. It eats at his heart a little more every single day, a niggling nudge at his ego that causes him to clench his teeth and swear under his breath.

Intellectual Characteristics

Gàbba is sharp, and quick on the uptake, but he is so completely full of himself that he sometimes misses subtle signs of danger or change. The thing that sets him apart, intellectually, however, is his divine ability to think of many things simultaneously. This is a relatively new ability, having been granted him after his congragation reached a certain level of membership and fervor.

Morality & Philosophy

Gàbba's main philosphy is that "more for Gàbba is better for everyone". He has ruminated upon this very subject for years, revelling in the knowledge that he is the best thing in the entire universe, and that he deserves everything he can get his hands on. He truly believes that he does not deserve any of the crap life brings round to every living thing, or any of the bad or undesireable scenarios that happen all the time.

Taboos

What enrages Gàbba Gàol the most, aside from al-Adin the Sailor, is being robbed. He has layered traps around his palace that include curses and diseases, as well as the more popular explosive runes and pit traps.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

To become powerful and wealthy enough to attract and keep Sheherizade the Temptress as his favored concubine. This has become twisted in his head with his desire for sheer and brutal power.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Gàbba has a preternatural charisma, able to charm masses of people with ease. He has an affably cruel demeanor, with a real talent for making people uncomfortable. His medical training was undertaken with an explicit view toward torture, and over the centuries he has experimented with his slaves until he became bored with the entire process, and now only undertakes a torture session when he really, really wants to.

Likes & Dislikes

Gàbba craves worship and praise, and he even enjoys the process of scaring people into submission. He likes sacrifices made to him, especially precious gems and rare magical items, or artifacts of great historical value. His art collection is one of his favorite possessions, and he fancies himself something of an art critic, but truth be told, his love of art is all and affectation meant to make him more attractive to Sheherizade the Temptress

Virtues & Personality perks

Gàbba truly does care for his congregation, in his own way, and will take steps to protect them, should it ever come to that. He provides them with all they require to not only survive, but to thrive, in the deep desert environs, teaching them about ventilation towers and how to make Tanjiin Ceaorc, among other things. They live in austere luxury out in the desert, planning terror and chaos, and sometimes even causing a ruckus somewhere.

Vices & Personality flaws

Gàbba is prone to falling into fits of destructive and abusive rage when his wishes and whims are thwarted, and he often delves into a sullen, violent depression, when dwelling upon Sheherizade and her ages-long love affair with al-Adin.

Personality Quirks

Gàbba Gàol is prone to bouts of maniacal laughter, especially when witnessing atrocities and destruction. He is obsessed with steel, indeed the vast majority of his religious accoutrements are fashioned of steel, and etched with acid. He wears a crown that emits a dark, heavy smoke, to accentuate his power and visage. A massive steel affair, the crown is exquisitely made, showcasing some of the most valuable gemstones in the world. He has a habit of whispering crytpic messages to his most ardent worshippers from afar, enjoying their confusion and emotional distress.    Gàbba is obsessed with mirrors, and his own visage therein. Some of his favorite gifts have been mirrors.
