Maigun
A class of weapons that use mechanical Maiga manipulation to make an attack at a limited range. They range in size from single handed pistols to vehicle mounted cannons. While their range increases with their size, maiguns have drastically reduced ranges compared to their contemporary firearm counterparts. To offset this, several are fitted with multiple barrels to increase their raw power, becoming blastguns. Maiguns are often used by security personnel or for home defense, where the shorter range will be less of a liability.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Maiguns all follow the same design principle; upon pulling a trigger, pull maiga from a charge through a series of focusing channels carved into the maigun's interior and into a bolt of tangible energy out of a final focusing lens at the end of a maigun's barrel. The precise how's to get to this point varies, with designs as varied as the imagination having been seen throughout recent history. They are commonly made of stone with a lightweight wooden furniture, as stone is one of the materials most receptive to maiga manipulation. This leads to most maigun smiths being shapers, as they can craft a maigun from a single slab and carve out the inner channels without needing to directly access the core of the material, leaving the best seals.
