Amapan
Birthplace of Humanity
What began as a small town in the First Era has become Lar Na Tire's most strategically important settlement as well as its largest. Many now consider Amapan to be mankind's greatest achievement, and those who don't can at least recognize the vast amount of history and work that went into creating such an astounding settlement.
Demographics
Government
Amapan is under the domain of the nation of Lar Na Tire, a monarchy presently ruled by King Christopher Gray.
Defences
Again, as with Zealand Falls, Amapan is generally undefended aside from the natural defence provided by the Centurion Crags, as well as the Amayan Ocean to the North. Many nations have tried to sack Amapan in the past, though they all failed, either dying in the mountains before they could even reach Amapan, or being slaughtered by the immense amount of troops posted in the mountains to protect the city.
Industry & Trade
Amapan's biggest source of economic income is as a trade center for the continents of Amayarr and Ithaca. Because it is by far the largest and most populous place between the two continents, it serves as the perfect meeting point for traders from either area. Taxes in Amapan are quite high, meaning they take a significant cut of every deal made in the city.
Additionally, Amapan makes a large amount of money via its universities, in particular Gunstock Academy, the world's oldest and highest-esteemed academy for tinkers, soldiers, and practitioners of magic.
Infrastructure
Amapan is considered by most to be the most highly developed city in the entire world. As such, it is well equipped with public transportation, sewers, high quality roads, indoor plumbing, and steam power nearly everywhere throughout. It is divided internally into five unique valleys, much like Zealand Falls, though on a significantly larger scale. The five valleys are Gunstock, Windrose, Drenich, Neonia, and the Wardensfell.
Each valley serves a different purpose to the city and is historically significant for its own reasons.
Guilds and Factions
Gunstock Academy is a globally recognized institution that is headquartered in Amapan. They teach everything from business to swordplay, and excel in every area. To be accepted into Gunstock Academy is a massive and rare achievement.
The Dragon's Fang is a slayer's guild with locations in Amapan, @Karoondinha, and Atlas, though they conduct the most business in Amapan. They hire mercenaries to fulfill contracts everywhere from the next town over to half way across the world. Many brave souls take on their challenges and return as wealthy men and women, though some are not so fortunate.
The Clasp has been known to operate here nearly as long as the city itself has existed, and many assume that they are deeply rooted in the local government, though they remain so well-hidden that nobody can say for sure exactly how great their influence is.
History
It is said that Amapan is the exact location that Silvanus placed the very first human beings. What began as a fertile valley, ripe for the taking, has slowly become the military and economic capital of the world, rife with highly advanced technologies not seen anywhere else. It has withstood wars, natural disasters, and apocalypses and always seems to come out on top. Truly Amapan is one of mankind's greatest creations yet.
Architecture
Amapan mirrors Zealand Falls in its architecture quite heavily, with many buildings carved into the mountainsides to allow for a more open valley below. However, due to its high population density, it's been necessary to expand into the valleys in order to accommodate everyone. Valley houses are typically constructed of maple wood imported from the Everautumn, and adorned with colorful stones mined from the southern ridge of the Centurion Crags.
Geography
Amapan is iconically nestled into the valleys of the Centurion Crags, with only one of its valleys, Windrose, having access to the ocean.
Natural Resources
In the valleys below, the earth is rich with rare flowers and herbs used medicinally which have long been farmed and sold to neighboring nations. Up high in the mountains, the earth is rich with iron and coal, allowing for a successful mining industry. Finally, off the shores of Windrose lies a wealth of pearls, used in jewellery and occasionally in magical rituals, which are in demand in practically every part of Tarroc.
