Terhithian Chapter of the Merchant's Guild
One might expect that Geyla would serve as the headquarters for the Merchant's Guild in Galencia. The main route for commerce, however, does not pass through the capital. Instead, the Trans-Rheuthengage Highway heads east, away from the great city, once it reaches the shores of Lake Galen. This fact, combined with the logistical nightmare of negotiating customs for caravans moving both into and out of Mennith, makes Tehrith the logical place for a chapterhouse.
Here, the Guild helps its members with a number of challenges, not the least of which is the the avoidance of fines and even imprisonment for the improper declaration of goods crossing the border. They also assist with more mundane, yet crucial tasks such as providing storage for goods and lodging for caravanners while they await their turn at customers. The process, managed by Mennethites, is so arduous that during the busiest trade seasons, caravans sometimes wait days for processing.
