Seranz Metzkor'al Character in Tarien | World Anvil

Seranz Metzkor'al

Caretaker of Malar
With black scales that glisten in the sunlight, rippling almost like rainbows, Seranz has always been a bit of an outsider among his people. His devotion to mother Shar’iish’ta, rather than to the hunt, further set him apart. While his kin respect the Creator deeply, some Tzecheni'korak see complete devotion to the faith a weakness on might expect in a Kari-Zaro but never in of the true apex predators in the Jungles. Seranz has never let these undercurrents of feeling trouble him. He knew from a young age that he would follow Shar'iisht'ta and has learned to embrace all races as her children, counting Kari-Zaro, Humans and even Elynthi among his friends.

These undercurrents did cause trouble to find him more often than others in his youth and it is the skills these battles taught him as much as his faith that convinced elders in the Order of Shar'iish'ta to grant him a circle of influence as large and as dangerous as the Swamps of Malar. Here, in the foul smelling waters, Seranz spends a mostly solitary existence, contemplating balance and pursuing his study of history. While his visitors are far and few between, their arrival invariably causes him no end of grief as they disturb the fragile balance that the creatures of the swamp - its dragons included - have struck while living in the shadows of the Tower of Chaos.

With jet black scales that reflect light in strange, shadowy rainbows, Seranz is an odd sight, even for a Tzecheni'korak. He spends most of his days in deep study, favoring history with a belief that understanding the past will help him lead Tarien to balance, only emerging from his lair to thwart those that seek to disrupt the balance of power in the Swamps.
