Magnificent Dozen
When wealthier fishing captains and merchants from a growing Rathgar wanted to get away from the city during hot, sticky months of summer, they travelled south, finding a spot on the small lake that forms the source of the River Gryphon in the highlands, they began to build country villas that eventually became the town of Haverston. A total of twelve estates were built on hills overlooking the lake, manay with small vineyards in what became a picturesque retreat. Unfortunately, the Goblin tribes of the area had other ideas and raided the new villas at least once a season. The Rathgarian elite finally abandoned the idea, leaving the area only to the unemployed and homeless. The Magnificent Dozen soon succumbed to nature. The coming of the Republican Army as restored order, however, and several of the estates have been restored, including the Sharon House and what many consider the finest of the lot, the old Malakar Estate.
