House Gorich

Though no longer truly a major house - they lost that designation to House Chrita nearly 1500 years ago - House Gorich still wields political clout in the Flietch-ta Empire through a number of avenues.

Most importantly is its wealth, for from influx of gold and silver, mined by Orkish and Goblin in the vast reaches of the southern Frosted Mountains into its ancestral home in Martidock that greases the wheels of its influence. The house maintains its stranglehold on these mines ruthless. No slave sent to work in the mines ever returns. Only Flind adopted into the greater Gorich family serve as overseers in either the mines or the transport of its product. These Flind are, of course, rewarded handsomely.

Such an operation requires a vast number of slaves and the Gorich family leads a number of hunts into the Orkish hills each season to acquire more. This places the family near the head of the slave trade that brings manual labor to the rest of the Empire and even to the Elanthai Council, providing yet another lucrative source of income.

With its wealth, House Gorich has managed to acquire 4 seats of its own on the Council of the Crescent Moon - the most among any of the Ork Lords. Their alliance, indeed their leadership of this esteemed faction, serves a yet another means of influence. Unfortunately, it also serves to prevent them from ever gaining major house status as the loyalty of the remaining Ork Lord Houses means passing seats on almost as soon as they are gained.

The House has taken one final step toward power, betrothing one its daughters to Cith Ralazon as a sign of their support for his radical ideas of opening up the Empire to trade. The daughter, not quite of age, is rumored to be of a fiery spirit and many suspect that she might one day rule from the shadows, making it the ultimate display of Gorich's shadowy power despite its minor status.
