Hagar Hook-Nosed

Collector of Khadric Tales

For centuries Hagar traveled the deepest places beneath the Underground Kingdom of the Children of Kharl, seeking new deposits of silver, gold, iron, and Mithril for his fellow miners. His nose, they say, could smell a vein from a dozen leagues, even through the solid granite into which most mines are dug. Spending much time alone in the darkest of places, he often told tales to his fellows of the strange things that he encountered while scouting. While most of the tales were simply that, a number of his friends thought him a bit touched and convinced him to retire in the mid-ninth century, BC.
Restless, Hagar took it upon himself to collect all of the campfire and cradle-side tales that he could find, pulling them together into a single volume. After editing the stories for style, and to ensure that they all had a proper moral, Hagar had them printed in a tome called Grim Tales, which quickly became one of the most popular works ever printed.

Hagar himself could not stay put and in the early eighth century BC vanished without a trace while exploring tunnels in the southern kingdom. Some miners jokingly say that his tales, many of which included faerie villains, finally caught up with him.
