When trade floundered with Mennith in the first century AC, Gestavvein found himself over extended and quickly bankrupt. With no coin to spare for a return to the Soulmeliti Forests, and no real desire to face the disgrace that awaited him there, he settled alongside several Human homesteaders across the bay from Grennig, resigned to a life of farming. He settled in, planted corn, squash, and beans - all crops he knew from his homeland - and found that they flourished. Within a few seasons he shared his technique of growing these crops together in the same field to others who also experienced bumper crops. Soon they were exporting food to across the bay to the growing city and a market developed near his home. Over the years that market grew into the village that now bears his name.
