Boyten

Silver Dragon and Literary Critic

Most famous for his seduction of the Soulmeliti poet Carni'key Kal'haiyllyn, Boyten was one of the most fearsome dragons to soar over the Frosted Mountains, maintaining a range of nearly a thousand square miles and claiming victory over at least a dozen red and white dragon interlopers during his lifetime. He finally succumbed in battle to a mighty red in the second century AC, over twelve hundred years after his birth. Flind mountaineers have long sought his lair, but to date, it has never been found.

Despite his prowess in battle, mortal history will always remember him for his reaction to the beloved epic The Dragonslayer. Displeased by its portrayal of dragons as mere beasts, he travelled in Soulmeliti form to New Solarin. There he spent several years in the company of the epic's author, engaging her in an ongoing conversation that subtly changed her mind about dragons and resulted in her second, less successful epic, The Dragonknight. It is said that after the poor public reaction to the work, Boyten revealed his true form to Carni'key and broke her heart. Upon her death he claimed her body, carrying it with him to the Frosted Mountains where, rumor has it, he built a shrine in her honor.
