The Dragonslayer

Soulmeliti Epic

Considered by many the epitome of the Soulmeliti epic form, The Dragonslayer was published in 183 BC, the first ever Soulmeliti work to be done so by the great Khadric Printing Press in New Kharolin. The tale, a series of 24 individual but interrelated stories written in heroic couplets follows a Soulmeliti knight as he travels northwest Tarien, writing wrongs and breaking hearts. Filled with adventure, the tales also each exemplify a Soulmeliti ideal such as courage, loyalty and honoring ones word. Some scholars - non-Soulmeliti of course - even believe that the these 24 morals hold the key to Soulmeliti code of honor, something that Soulmeliti claim is known in each of their souls and need not be codified. outsiders, however, who often have trouble with the nuances of polite society are often pointed back to epic as way to gain a "glimmering of understanding".
