Betrium Styvalhyme

Signer of the Drakshal Accords

The only female Soulmeliti to hold the position of Forest speaker, Betrium had no brothers, forcing a short debate upon the death of her father. The truth was, however, that Betrium had been running the Soulmeliti government for decades and everyone knew it.

Betrium proved a capable administrator who, like her father, led the Soulmeliti through centuries of peace and prosperity. Like her father, she had a soft spot in her heart for the Human and made it a point to visit Geyla several times during her life. She also frequented the new Drakshal Monastery where the lives of the monks and devotion to mind, body, and spirit fascinated her. It is said that she upon returning from the Monastery the first time she immediately sent for the head of the Kirsh'shaluush, suggesting that the order visit the Monastery to see what it might learn. It is believed that the Soulmeliti warriors scorned at the idea of learning anything from humans and no overtures were made.

Still, Betrium's suggestions demonstrated the almost un-Soulmeliti willingness that she possessed to explore that which was beyond the forests. This very curiosity, in fact, led to her participation in the first formal treaty ever signed by the Soulmeliti, the Drakshal Accords. The treaty, which promises mutual military and economic aid has been invoked by both nations and still stands today.
