Bertagin Savanah
These tall grasslands of central Azermathia are hot and, with the exception of the annual rains that sweep in from the Darsiac Ocean every autumn, dry. Great herds of antelope, zebra, and buffalo mingle with rhinoceroses, elephants and giraffes. Lions and hyenas and other grassland predators weed out the sick and old. The great rivers Aris and Darsus provide reliable, albeit crocodile and hippopotamus filled, sources of water.
No civilized being would travel these grasslands. In the western Savannah, the danger comes from the Kyushu Horde. Their communities of wagons and exotic steeds follow the herds and therefore the herds and they suffer no outsiders. Further east, the herds thin only to be replaced with giants from another age. Great horned and armored dinosaurs dominate the landscape. They are preyed upon by packs of man-sized carnivores that would happily devour a traveler.
