Wyr'vani Duchy
This cold, icy tundra plain, nestled along the Frigvold Glaciers, is a harsh land fed by the sea and the River Rime. It is a place that is governed by the entirety of the 1200 or so elves that live in the province, the Wyr'vani tribe of Snow Elves. They are masters of this region, for it is there ancestral homeland. They are masters of the coast, and as such, their seat of power is the small city known as Rockclaw Bay. It is here that this elven tribe calls home, though they've always travelled up and down the coastline comfortably, and the reason for that is the near constantly booming population of Rockclaw lobsters all up and down the coast and in the bay itself. This is a major food source and a successful export, as these lobsters can get quite large, almost as large as a young child, and their carapace is a highly valued and sought after crafting material. The Wyr'vani elves hold sway here, but in accordance to their agreements, allow others to settle under their governance. The Wyr'vani are also well known for having notably large numbers of successful and highly proficient magisters within their clan, most notably, of Uisce and Aeir. As such, magical education is readily available in Rockclaw Bay for anyone of any race whom exhibits any talent in those two veins of the Art. Within the last decade, as more people have moved into the region, the lobster industry is booming, especially with the opening of two busy canneries in Rockclaw Bay.
Geography
GEOGRAPHIC PLACES OF IMPORT:
River Rime: This river gets its name, flowing from the Frigvold Glaciers to join the Tiber, for its bitter cold temperature, cold even to people used to a tundra climate. It is a dangerous river to ply any craft on, but otter is a favored prey for their pelt and meat here, along with the river oysters that live in within the river. Harvesting or hunting these creatures is highly dangerous, due to the extreme cold of the river. Hypothermia does not take long to set in on someone whom falls into the river.
CITIES/TOWNS:
Rockclaw Bay: (8112): This large port town is the principal settlement in the region, and the seat of power, and ancestral home of the Wyr'vani Snow Elf tribe. The industry here gives the town its new name, that is the Rockclaw Lobster fishing. The two relatively new canneries that have opened up in the town have seen a boom in people moving into the town. The town is also a busy trade port, as one might expect, and a place of magical learning. Acting as a satellite for the Magister Collegiate, specifically, to the schools of Aeir and Uisce. Not a lot more is well known about this town, though it is a popular smuggler's station, rumor has it. Seems the elves take less note than most in regards to most kinds of contraband.
Icer Station: (4261): A burgeoning and swiftly growing railway town, Icer Station is a rough and tumble, growing urban center that keeps its frontier feel. It is a busy, working class town, and the rail yards here are a major part of that identity. This town is another popular smuggler stop as well, for the rails, as these frontier minded folk are quite willing to turn the other cheek for a reasonable bribe. It is also the transit point for any goods being shipped by rail that need to go to Rockclaw Bay, hence being the busiest station in the region.
Frostbridge: (3581): A quiet railway town, one built by the River Rime which controls the railway crossing over that same river, the main employer is again the rail system, specifically to maintain and control the bridge, as well as being a place to take on fresh water and some variety of food (various fish, river side plants and herbs, etc) to keep locomotives stocked. A notable garrison is operated here by Rail Wardens, and the bridge and surrounding area is well patrolled and well maintained.
