Con'veinia Baruntacht

The lands along the central corridor of the Durin Province, nestled between the southwestern edge of the White-Tip Mountains and the Northeastern edges of the Sheer-Stone Range, these lands and the settlements therein make up the second most populous estate within the Durin Province, and is the seat of Fiolag Felivan Con'Veinia, an elf of some four centuries, whom is a staunch traditionalist in his own right, and as such often butts heads quite aggressively with his liege lord. Despite this heavy difference of opinion, however, Fiolag Con'Veinia's own traditionalist values align in such a way that he is a staunch loyalist to his liege lord, his lands and his country. The lands here are lush, or so far as lands within a tundra can ever be considered lush, in that one will find plentiful game within this corridor, along with all manner of edible tundra plants growing wild. Indeed one will even find small strips of land near some of the larger towns and cities set up and worked by locals, as farmland. Not much can be farmed here, but snow peas, wild onion, potatoes and blueberries make up the bulk of any farming of any 'crop' in the conventional sense.

Geography

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATIONS OF NOTE:

The geography in the region is quite forgiving and is also, comparatively to other regions, well explored.

TOWNS/CITIES:

Ghapiiv (9276): Ghapiiv, pronounced jeb-kiev, is a dwarven name, an ancient and simple one meaning 'central town'. This town, well city now by most standards, houses a stadium, with its own Caid team that plays within the SCL, the Ghapiiv Crimson. As the name implies it is a centralized regional hub, with trade and goods constantly flowing through, heading north or south. Ghapiiv is also the principal settlement of the Con'Veinia Baruntacht, and the centralized location for the authority of Fiolag Felivan Con'Veinia. The city is well known for being a busy hub of trade and commerce, but also restrictive in policy, with the church playing a far larger roll in local affairs than most other cities in Suranth in this day and age. The various Trade Guilds, all of them, the entire concept of the Unionization under that concept of the Righteous Boots of Labor, find that Fiolag Felivan Con'Veinia and themselves oft butt heads. The reason of course is because Fiolag Con'Veinia is and always has been vehemently opposed to the Guilds and the Guild System. As such he oft has found himself in hot water with his own superiors, Lord Protectorate Vithang having publicly threatened to strip him of his land and titles should he try and restrict the Guilds' activities and legally protected and promised rights of negotiation and of the right to strike. It is an oddity of a city, a place where the march of progress often butts heads with the staunch and unwilling brick wall that is traditional values.

Ferrine Bay (6133): This industrious town is a busy local port and mill, but gets its name for why it is so busy, and wealthy. This little pocket of woodlands at the tips of the Sheer-Stone Range, is home to a boisterous amount of a rare and valuable coniferous tree, the Ferrine. Ferrine are a type of tree that in many ways are quite similiar to pine, but with a key difference. The wood, that is the trunk, the timber itself, is nearly as solid and tough as iron, but only about two thirds the weight. As one might expect this is a valuable and highly desired resource for all manner of goods. As such the lumber companies and interests that run out of the town employ a significantly high percentage of the townspeople in one fashion or another.

Mabfufiiv (2917): This town is the 'civilian' side of the naval operations in the region attached to Fort East-Watch, that is, it is a military families sort of town, and a military supplier sort of town. Well fortified, well patrolled, with a small but busy docks area. The town's odd name is again dwarven, pronounced Mab-fiv-eve, which more or less translates to 'Fortified Naval Town'.

Coal-head Banks (4051): This is a rail hub town, plain and simple and is named for it. The main reason for this fact is because they are the switchover point in the rail system for all the goods being shipped up to Fort East-Watch from, well anywhere. As such, their railyards are quite busy at all times, with train cars being shuffled between locomotives, all while being ridden hard by supervisors and conductors, harder than at most other railyards, about the schedule. The Suranthi Navy despises tardiness. The town's name comes from the large number of locomotive, dock, and especially, rail-yard workers that make up a rather hefty slice the town's population.
