Ahlizz 'Lizzie' Caskshaper
We have been successful in stupid stuff.Ahlizz Caskshaper
Lizzie is a tiefling bard of the College of Swords, raised by dwarven adoptive parents in the city of Holmir. He eventually left to see the world.
After travelling for around a year he found himself on Tolsta, where his penchant for gossip got him on the wrong side of Lady San. He joined the party after they helped him against Lady San's assassins.
Cult of Pharika
He had the vaguest memory of being around many tieflings, so he believed his parents probably just misplaced him and didn't notice because they had such a large family.Move to Holmir
Ahlizz was found wandering the forest alone as a young child by a group of dwarves returning to their city of Holmir from a trading mission.
After initial suspicion, the dwarves decided he could stay in Holmir and he was adopted by a couple: Tharlick (a blacksmith) and Gubb (an innkeeper) Caskshaper. His two dads doted on him and he had a happy, supported childhood. He was never short of friends and charmed people easily, particularly the patrons of Gubb's bar.
This began to trouble him during his teens when he wondered if this was a preternatural power, a manipulative aspect of his true evil nature surfacing. He chose to try to suppress this evil by using his charms to entertain people and bring then happiness. He took up swordplay as a hobby to impress Tharlick and spend time with those of his friends who trained seriously with the intention of becoming guards or soldiers like many of their parents, although his witty insults often stung more than his blade.
The Elven Merchant
A couple of years after being taken in by the dwarves, a travelling elven merchant came through the city and stopped at the inn. The merchant's wares were mostly arcane and dangerous but Gubb saw she had an unusual (though non-magical) lute of smooth black wood for sale, which he bought as a gift for Ahlizz. Very late that night, Ahlizz snuck out to sit behind the statue of Hanseath outside the front of the inn and play his new lute where his dads wouldn't see or hear him and send him to bed.
The merchant rushed into the square, coming from the direction of Furstin Gall's home, spotted him and whispered that if he came to find her when he was an adult she would enchant the lute with powerful magic that could help him defeat mighty creatures, including dragons. She then ran off towards the city gates. A few minutes later, Tharlick and Gubb walked in from the same direction the merchant had come, silent and unseeing as if in a trance. The dwarves of the city have refused to speak about the merchant ever since, hushing Ahlizz any time he has tried to bring the subject up. The lute seems the only proof the merchant was ever there. At Ahlizz's request, Tharlick had the black lute engraved and inlaid with silver. It is decorated with dwarven script which reads: THIS MACHINE KILLS DRAGONS.
