Agnes Silverbrand
I think everything is a bit much right now.- Agnes Silverbrand
Agnes Silverbrand is an idealistic, somewhat naive cleric. She left her home in the Suncap Hills of Mauren on a calling from her deity Lydia, following in the footsteps of her adventurer grandmother.
Early Life
Agnes lived happily with her grandparents Catlin and Devon, her parents Tarra and Danell, and her little brother Gael, in the Suncap Hills of Mauren. They are part of a clan of dwarves, who for the most part live beneath the hill in a large community dug deep into the earth.
But not the Silverbrands. A couple of hundred years ago, Agnes’ grandmother, Catlin, set up a temple to Lydia, goddess of daylight, outside the community, and ever since the Silverbrand family have lived in the light of the sun. The temple is made of white stone, accented with gold and bronze which shine in the daylight and light up the hillside from dusk ‘til dawn. It is, nevertheless, a small building, more of a local church than an impressive cathedral in size, and simply furnished within.
The family are devoted to Lydia as a whole. They are dedicated and loyal believers, having been instructed in her faith by Catlin, who has been a cleric of light since her youth. Despite their faith, and despite the fact that they have been running the temple for a couple of centuries now, the Silverbrands are mostly visited by their fellow clanspeople for the purpose of purchasing their home-brewed cider, rather than for any reason of faith. A few of the dwarves, and even some of the neighbouring halfling village of Soldin, will drop by for their weekly services, but it is usually more for the opportunity to buy their cider than to experience their sermons.
Agnes spent her days helping with the cider production, working on the small stall they run to sell it after every service, and helping her grandmother in the temple. Catlin, though now retired, has always enthralled Agnes with stories of a youth spent adventuring in Lydia’s name, and Agnes had always wanted to follow in her footsteps.
