2024 Summer Reading Challenge.
For the challenge I put out requests asking people to submit their articles. I know sometimes what you are really proud of you write and what people actually read, may not be the same thing during these challenges.
1.
The first submission was their challenge article , which had their favorites listed. Which was a really nice touch. Something I plan on incorporating later. Their main article was simple and interesting. A brief description of a pleasure city with a little story, and a dark twist, on the bottom. There is some NSFW content, but it's not overly descriptive (well, by my definition anyways).: Alumenar Settlement in Havenguard2.
This article was an interesting read as someone who's spent some time in the world of Psychology. It's not the industry I ended up in, but it's been a, "special interest," for a long time. I've especially dived into the world of group think, cults, moral panics, and similar topics. So, an article with a condition in which a group's belief about you can alter who you actually are was fascinating. This is a well thought out article and I highly recommend giving it a read.: Dissolutio Identitatis Condition.3.
A building meant to be temporary, though in this case, it ended up not being. The article gives some description, adds a nice air of mystery, and puts in some public opinion about this abandoned structure. A quick read, but one that's also well laid out and interesting. The Celestial Observatory4.
A intentional hybrid. Though I definitely have a tendency to make my species articles full on wiki-biology articles, I like that this one is a journal entry instead. It's a quick little read and interesting. Flying Jackalope5.
A tradition that gives comfort. A well thought out tradition that also shows the cultural evolution of the tradition, which is something I don't always see in articles like this, and often times forget about myself. Informative but also concise, great article. Mela Sule Tradition6.
A Large Scale Natural Disaster. A natural disaster caused by politics and an angry forest, unique, and also very interesting. It's a longer article, but it moves along well and doesn't feel tedious. The Separation Law7.
A Faction of an Organization Built Around Belief. An article with really interesting and cool formatting, a little bit of info, and a well written paragraph of prose to let the reader really feel out the story. I enjoyed reading this one. Arrow Lodge8.
Slang or language associated with a belief or religion. A fun article from a POV of someone who has a belief about a language, which I thought was clever. It also made me laugh, which I always appreciate. Gobbledygook Language9.
A vehicle that caused social upheaval. An outstanding article by Tillerz, would we expect anything less? I really love the design of this page. It's clean but also interesting. The little quotes were a great touch. The story is relatable even though it's in a fictional world. Top notch writing and site design. The Queenshaven-Makari Steam Engine Train10.
For this article I intentionally looked for an article with very few views and no likes. This one only had fourteen views. It was an article written in Spanish, which I don't speak, but Google translate let me read it easily. A short and to the point article about a very small town. If you're into small town life (admittedly I'm a city person) it would probably be right up your alley. Avilla Settlement in MundoDes' Tip of the day, don't let language barriers keep you from checking out other people's work. Online translators have gotten pretty good.
Goals for the rest of the year. I really want to be out of editing before November for Game of Tomes. So, it will be writing. But, I am also hoping to finish the back end of Sacred Ecology in Nov so, when World Ember comes, I can kick some article writing ass. (I'm sure that makes sense, right?)
Thanks for including Dissolutio Identitas! I am glad you enjoyed it!
