Tasty Tart
Cheap, easy and only a little dangerous.
Overview:
The Tasty Tart is a three-story building in a rundown section of Apple Springs. It sits in the middle of the crowded south side of Dock Street, with other buildings huddled close around, one touching one side. A prominent sign hangs over the door; it's a little faded, but clearly painted on it in bright colors is a buxom, young halfling with a huge, toothy smile. She's wearing a low-cut dress and holds a large tart out in front of her, as if presenting it to passersby. Windows on each floor show light streaming out until late at night most nights. There's a long covered porch along the front of the building with a few rocking chairs on it. A pair of large doors swing inward to a large common room. When they open, the sounds of talking pour out, along with smoke, the smell of earthy foods and sometimes music. Dock Street is a wide dusty avenue that hosts plenty of trade carts rolling to and from the Apple Springs docks. Most of its length it is bordered by ramshackle buildings crowded close in on each other. Most of the buildings are wooden, usually two or three stories. The street is well traveled with potholes and wagon tracks dug deep in some spots. Not the wealthiest part of town, many of the inhabitants are barely making enough to get by. This street hosts the the union houses, laborious industries and less agreeable artisans, like the cotton works, where the unpleasant smells from the chemicals used to separate the cotton from the boll hang over the neighborhood, punishing the noses of outsiders and locals alike.Purpose / Function
This building is an inn, tavern and brothel all in one. The ground floor has a large common room. The second floor is where the workers live and work. The third floor is where the rental rooms are.
