Exalted member Ryder Kabaleyro and █████ were to intercept cult known as ███████████████ and interrupt a dangerous ritual. They were to approach from █████ and observe until the right moment.
The mission was a partial failure, however, as ███████████████ had been made aware of a possible interruption on our part. They used █████ to create the temporary dimensional rifting known as ███████████████, which target the artifacts held by Ryder and █████.
█████ thought they still were able to interrupt, and directed Ryder to approach overhead, using the rafters as a vantage point. However, Ryder's grip was not strong enough, and he slipped, falling directly into the center of the ritual as it reached its crescendo.
The ritual █████, a means to manifest desire into a physical form, was corrupted. It's original target █████████ was pushed out of the way by the falling Ryder, and instead the ritual manifested Ryder's desire. At the time, this was all that was known, as Ryder was the only survivor to return after the incident.
However, years later █████ made their way back to the compound, with a different tale.
As █████ describes it;

Suddenly, this massive, intimidating armored form stands up. He must have been 6, no, 7 feet tall? And the sword... the sword was at least two hands wide, and longer than I am tall. This being radiated darkness and quiet. That's what I remember the most. In the moments after it was created, the room was silent. All stared at it. It only stared at Ryder. Then, Ryder slowly nodded at the armored being. And then █████ ███████████████ and ███████████████████████████. It was the worst thing I've ever seen, I don't think I █████ █████████████████ ████
