3rd Grade Letter to Your Hero

E/N: So, this entire article is going to be written by me, Ethelyn Suthmeer, because Ruby Gray refuses to admit that she ever wrote this. I wonder what people would think to find out that Doctor Despair, infamous supervillain, wrote a letter to a superhero about how much she admired him. Of course, they'd probably also freak out upon finding out that she was like 10 years old during her worst crime spree, when really the embarrassing part is the letter.   So just assume that despite the more typical formatting, this one isn't Ruby's opinion, it's mine.   Ruby didn't attend a lot of school. She periodically was forced into it so that we could all maintain our cover stories, and also because my own parents Grace Suthmeer and Martin Suthmeer wanted me to have at least something normal. It never lasted long, and overall I do feel that homeschooling was the best choice for us two girls.   However, this did lead to the letter writing when we were 8. This particular teacher was not one of the more engaging ones, to be totally honest, but the assignment she gave happened to coincide with a research project Ruby was working on. The Battle of the Sky Demon was something she found interesting, and since she was looking into the superheroes involved, the request to "write a letter to a hero of yours" was something that functioned as a nice capstone.   Surprisingly, she didn't write one to Katastrophis, the entity who almost destroyed the planet, but to the superheroes Lightman and Velocity, the ones responsible for throwing Katastrophis into the Psiaic Dimension.   My mom had to rewrite the letter twice, to make sure it seemed like an actual eight year old had written it. And also to avoid sounding like Ruby was capable of and willing to attack them.   She thought they were cool, because according to her they'd combined their abilities in an intelligent manner, used good teamwork, and had generally acted with integrity and true heroism. That she would have loved to meet them, and their disappearances were a loss to the world.   Future spoilers if you want.
They're her parents. It was more embarrassing because of how much she gushed even while setting herself up on the opposite end of the morality scale, but ultimately this letter is ridiculous because her heroes turned out to be her parents and it's adorable and I will never let her forget this.
