Al-Akbar Stables

The al-Akbar Stables are owned and run by Bandar al-Akbar, a veteran ostler. They are the largest stables in Ka-Tepi and can host dozens of horses or camels in their stalls. The sandy central exercise yard is shaded by a large loose-woven sail, allowing cooling breezes to sweep through while blocking the harsh sun, and is angled to funnel fresh air into the upper sections of the stables surrounding it, blowing out the hot, still air captured in the upper storeys.
The stone floors have deep drainage channels cut into them and are thickly padded with kenaf fibres from the farms beside the lake. They are frequently cleaned by the stable-boys working there, ensuring that they are actually cleaner than some of the inns for humans.
The grooms are all well-trained in taking care of the animals under their care, and sick or injured animals recover swiftly while stabled. Several of the grooms are able to handle unusual and exotic mounts, with a restricted upper-storey stable designed to handle pegasi. The stable has a contract with the Durpari Army to care for the Airlancers' mounts whenever a patrol squad lands in Ka-Tepi.
While the stables are not equipped to host entire caravans, several merchants will stable their personal animals there to ensure they receive the best care.
