Spiked hunters

These hunters are a special military force that are used by the pharaoh to protect Abarnis against enemy forces. Though when war isn't on the horizon they are usually send to Apep's hunting ground to hunt dangerous monsters and scavenge for the ever highly desired Scalva flower to further expand their weapon arsenal in case of urgency. When the hunters are sent to war they carry with them their own Ze'i's present. These blades are highly effective against other armies. When the hunters are send to apep's hunting ground they will bring their metal weapons, for fear of losing one of these weapons to the highly acidic nature of the those grounds.
These hunters use Chariot's of Horus to mobilize these forces. These chariot's made with magic to allow them to be light enough for the manticores to carry the chariot with the hunter(s).
The recruitment of a hunter is done in two phases. First the potentially new recruit is first tested in his/her knowledge about Apep's hunting ground and their common military formations. Usually this information is passed down from generation to generation, though most hunters have a student. A trial by combat is the second phase this is done in a very ritualistic manner. First the current Master of Spikes and two veteran hunters are present at the trial. These people will judge the competence of the recruit. The recruit's opponent is somebody that Master of spikes has assigned who will be able to control his/her strength during the battle.
Each member can pick their own prefered practice weapon. The trial takes a maximum of three minutes thereafter the judges decide the outcome. Losing doesn't mean you aren't qualified, though winning will highly improve your chances. When the ritual is completed and a new hunter has come to be, the hunters hold a big party where he/she in introduced to all the members that are available. In the next couple of days the new recruit and the Core Smith(s) will work together to make a new weapon to his/her preference. The cost for this new weapon will be covered by the other hunters as a welcoming gift.
