Sabbat

The Black Hand, the Sword of Caine; followers of the Dark Father, the First Vampire. A cult of fanatical vampire supremacists whom values the Beast, the monster inside all vampires.

History

In response to the Convention of Thorns

a large amongst the Kindred whom valued the old ways, of being the monsters stalking the villages and the "draculas in the castle", began the first sparks of the Anarch Revolt. Amongst these were two entire clans: the Lasombra and the Tzimisce.
In the decades to come mortals would spread rumours of "roving bands of Sabbaths", talking of "witches and devils meeting at midnight." These were the more monstrous of the original Anarchs. Whom would eventually splinter from the rest of the revolutionaries and take upon the monicer given to them. "The Sabbat". Followers of Caine, the first murderer, ever chasing his dark glory.

For centuries

the Sabbat has fought and subverted the Camarilla and Anarch both. Seeking to further their goals of vampiric supremacy, and spiritual purity in the Beast amongst their cainite kin. Their embracing of the Beast and its values has earned them a reputation as monsters amongst monsters. Feral beasts with only enough cognizance to be undeniably cruel, evil even.
With their cruelty and disregard for the Masquerade, Camarilla and Anarchs both fear Sabbat coming into their domain. As they represent a threat to not just them, but the Masquerade as a whole.

In these modern nights

the Sabbat are a fraction of what they were. Their disregard for the Masquerade has seen them nearly wiped off the face of the earth by the hands of the Second Inquisition, and their Camarilla and Anarch rivals picking off the disperate packs fleeing its fires.
As a response to this the Lasombra has fractured. A few remain loyal to the sect, whilst the majority are viewing the Sabbat as the losing side in this current conflict. Migrating primarily to the Camarilla.
They are not gone, not entirely. And though few elders and leaders remain in their ranks. Most of their survivors are hardened war-packs. Master of guerilla warfare. So though the threat of a large scale assault is a nightmare from the last decade. Becoming infiltrated, subverted, then picked off one Kindred, one coterie at the time (victims likely diablerized). The Sabbat is still feared to this night.

Culture

...

Ritae

The Ritae are the Sabbat's unholy rituals. As they value bonds of loyalty and fraternity, these Ritae are meant to either directly reinforce those values, or otherwise add to those values (not everyone likes turkey for Christmas, but everyone loves Christmas.)

Archbishop

As a Prince is the Camarilla ruler of a city, so too does a Sabbat Archbishop rule a city.

Bishop

The Archbishop's advisors and assistants. A Bishop is a high-ranking Sabbat whom has status and influence close-to-equal to the Archbishop.

Templars and Paladins

The Sabbat's elite enforcers and bodyguards. Templars are to the Sabbat what a Sheriff is to the Camarilla, and the Paladins equivilant to the Camarilla's Justicars.
Templars are typically sworn to protect Bishops and Archbishops, and do their bidding. Typically in gorey fashion.
Paladins are the hand-picked few amongst Templars. Whom directly serve the highest ranking Sabbat elite. Such as the Cardinals or even the Regent.

Pack Priest

One of the leader roles in a pack. In modern nights most packs only have a pack priest, and not a Ductus. A Pack Priest is responsible for a pack's spiritual "purity", memorizing and maintaining the Sabbat's many rituals and traditions.

Ductus

The other leader role in a pack. A Ductus is the more pragmatic day-to-day leadership position, often reffered to as the "warmaster" in the pack, due to many packs' proclivities to violence.

True Sabbat

Similar to a made individual amongst the mafia. True Sabbat are proven members of the sect. They are the lowest rank whom is considered fully integrated and loyal to the Sabbat's ideals and traditions.

False Sabbat

Either and unproven member, a member lost in their ways, or a traitor. The most common "unproven" are shovelheads whom have lived too long to just be shovelheads. Though those whom have gone through proper creation rites and not merely "shovelheaded", but have yet to prove themselves "proper Sabbat" can be found amongst these false Sabbat.
Sometimes, a member betrays the sect's ideals, but isn't deemed a full traitor. Their packmates will often try to reintegrate these "lost" Sabbat (though not without appropriate punishment.)
Every now and again however, someone breaks their indoctrination oaths of loyalty and betrays their pack, or even their local Bishop or Archbishop. These traitors are given no mercy and hunted til the ends of days.

Shovelheads

The absolute lowest rank amongst the Sabbat (yet still above mortal humans). The term "Shovelhead" originates from the common method of Mass Embrace amongst the sect. Where mortals will be forced to dig a shallow mass grave, then they will be drained, hit over the head with the same shovel they used to dig said grave, then given the Embrace.
These poor wretches are almost always confused and feral, clinging to the Sabbat after having their entire vampire-free worldview torn to shreds and their lives taken away and replaced with a monstrous hunger. The Sabbat likes to use these mass-Embraced fledgelings as shock troops to toss at the local Camarilla and Anarchs.
