Tristian

An powerful Aasimar cleric of Sarenrae who lives in Ornisk. He has gold hair and eyes, and believes strongly that people deserve a second chance (but should they refuse it, must be smote). He lives in a small cottage on the outskirts of town. His house serves as a shrine to Sarenrae.   While nonviolent, Tristian has proven to be fiercely protective over his allies, especially his boyfriend Cherry. When Cherry fell in combat at Candlemere Island, the cleric swiftly stormed the ruins, destroyed the shadows who had defeated the satyr, and resurrected him.   During his time as Sarenrae's herald, he met several gods, including Torag. However, he can no longer feel Sarenrae.   It is thought that Tristian's mortality may be the result of Nyrissa's curse. She likely didn't curse him directly, but the curse she spread across the Stolen Lands could've changed him if he believed he was cursed.

Background

Tristian was originally a Deva, and a herald--a sacred servant and messenger of Sarenrae who saw and listened to her daily, carrying out her commands. As her herald he was given uncommon abilities, including the ability to do divine teleportation magic. He encountered Nyrissa in the void plane and followed her to the material plane, where she trapped him, severed his connection to Sarenrae, and somehow changed him into a mortal Aasimar. She said he would regain it and his wings if he served her. Afraid to remain mortal, he obeyed her, but waited for an opportunity to act against her. However, there is no evidence that she herself cursed him.   Nyrissa ordered Tristian to travel to the Temple of Erastil to conjure a fog which would envelope the Stolen Lands. His mentor, Jhod Khaven, believed Tristian was in danger and asked The Constellation to travel there and help him. With their help, Tristian defeated the temple guardian (who had attacked Tristian for his actions), then cleansed the temple of the corruption and fog he had caused. This action won their trust.   Nyrissa charged Tristian with helping The Land of the Silver Star to flourish, so he served as a healer on the raid of the Stag Lord's Fort, then took up permanent residence in Ornisk.   Tristian was given an eye of Gyronna to dispose of, but he gave it to Nyrissa instead.   Cherry once encountered a Sister, who spoke of Tristian bringing ruin to his companions, but said his master (presumably Sarenrae, but potentially Nyrissa) was proud of him and his accomplishments.

Actions against the Silver Star

Eventually, Nyrissa tasked Tristian to destroy The Land of the Silver Star and had him repeatedly act against the nation. She had him support the Cult of the Bloom, causing hundreds of deaths. She also had him open a portal on the Bald Hilltop and periodically open it. He occasionally left to meet her demands, always coming back incredibly hurt.   Tristian's final task from Nyrissa was to get the Oculus of Abaddon from Vordakai's Tomb after the lich's death. Tristian used divination magic to observe the inside of the tomb, and after Vordakai's death, he used a scroll to open a portal into the room. Cherry, sent by Sarenrae to find Tristian, talked him down from turning over the Oculus. Tristian apologized and said he couldn't disobey Nyrissa, but was able to destroy it. He was blinded for his betrayal, though he remains able to see people's auras.

Redemption

Tristian doubts that Sarenrae has forgiven him, as he is still mortal. He has been attempting to gain redemption by helping people, although Cherry has told him that his acts can't be selfless if he is doing them for the sake of redemption.
