Vesta
Vesta is the second largest asteroid in the asteroid belt of the solar system. Home to the first Gate in the system it has turned from its original purpose, a nickel and iron mining hub, to a mega city for trade and military base for the Celestial Connection.
Though once a company Asteroid, the modern Vesta is run with an elected local government with a mayor and a local council. However the defense governor Admiral Radax has many emergency powers since the CC took control. The population remains mostly Spaceborn with a notable minority of other CC local groups, especially Titan soldiers living on the asteroid and traders from Jupiter.

History
Originally a company asteroid for Biaankhi Industrial LLC, (An asteroid licensed to be run and operated by a company whom directly governed the body for its government) the asteroid was sought out for its iron and nickel rich core as space Iron was highly sought after in the early days for its purity. It would continue to operate as such through the first and second waves with growing tension. Eventually the company would fall under the MDF dominion, as the company HQ was located on Mars and administration from earth was both difficult, and economically fraught even for bodies as close as the asteroid belt. As workers still need food and it was getting harder and harder to get some from earth.
Vesta despite having mostly hollowed out the metal rich core was still a massive asteroid and when the Belt War broke out its well developed state, its lack of pronounced defenses, and its fame as the second largest asteroid, Admiral Radaxs conquered it as a first priority, turning it into the hub of CC control. To win over the locals Biaankhi's assets were nationalized and handed over to the workers living in that mine, and as such they would prove key to the bodies defense as the MDF tried and failed twice to retake it.
The war ended with Vesta in the CC's hands permanently and soon the Admiral ordered a gate be constructed. Though Vesta was too small for the ideal Gate size, a miniaturized one was constructed. While an unfortunate choke hold on trade, it still remains the fastest way in and out of the outer system and hundreds of ships can be seen coming, going and waiting for their chance through the gate. Though the mines have almost exhausted the material reserves on Vesta, the economy boomed as trade was restored through the system and few speak nostalgically of the old mining days.

Tourism
Less tourism, but travel is coming. Many arrive at Vesta looking to travel to Europa or Ganymede. The smaller gate means waits can range from hours to days, leading to a substantial night life and hotel scene on Vesta, despite this, it is functionally the worlds largest truck stop.
